When it comes to having your Will written, you want to know that the person you choose to draft it for you is professional, dependable and trustworthy.
The Society of Will Writers are a self-regulatory organisation for Will Writers. This simply means that Will Writers and Estate Planners choose to join the Society and adhere to their regulatory framework.
The Society have been regulating its members since 1994 and in the absence of statutory regulation has grown to become to the largest independent organisation of our type. Since May 2013 when the then Lord Chancellor decided not to regulate the profession, the SWW has stepped up its efforts and strengthened its regulatory functions in order to show that we are looking at protecting the consumer.
Clients of members can rest assured that SWW members adhere to our strict Code of Practice, hold professional indemnity insurance and continue to professionally develop themselves with regular training. From October 2015, SWW members that are fully compliant will be able to display the new ‘safe to do business with’ logo on their websites and marketing material. This is supported by 10 principles that make it perfectly clear to the consumer what to expect from the member.
If a members client is ever unsatisfied with their interaction and have exhausted the members complaints procedure they are invited to bring the complaint to our attention and it will be assessed by an independent complaints administrator.
