Dear Member,

In 1994, The Society of Will Writers was founded with two clear, unwavering aims:

  1. To promote to the public at large the real need and sense in having a valid Will;
  2. To act as a self-regulatory body by vetting practitioners through stringent membership requirements, proficiency standards and ongoing training.

For over thirty years, these principles have guided everything we do. We have grown into a frontrunning professional body for Will Writers and Estate Planners, providing the training, technical support, and self-regulatory framework that allows consumers to put their trust in the profession.

Investing in our Collective Future

To maintain this standard of excellence and keep pace with the growing needs of our membership, we occasionally have to review our resources. It is a point of pride that we have not adjusted our fees since 2018, having absorbed the rising costs of business for the last eight years to protect your outgoings.

However, to future-proof the Society and ensure we continue to lead the profession from the front, we will be implementing a marginal adjustment to membership fees effective 1 April 2026.

While the change is small for members individually, collectively it will make a significant difference. These funds will allow us to:

  • Expand the SWW Team: We are increasing our internal capacity to maintain the responsive service you expect and keep up with the rising demand for member services, technical support, and compliance measures.
  • Enhance Member Benefits: We are reinvesting in the tools you use daily, including the launch of a new digital platform for The College of Will Writing, a refreshed ‘Find a Member’ function to better connect you with clients, and a wider range of subsidised products designed to save your business money.
  • Secure our Voice: Raising our profile and strengthening our advocacy efforts ensures that SWW Members remain the gold standard for consumer protection and professional status in the eyes of the public and government bodies.
New Membership Rates

We have kept this adjustment as minimal as possible. From 1 April 2026, the cost of membership will be:

  • Full Membership: £360 per year (discounted annual rate) or £33 per month.
  • Affiliate Membership: £100 per year. Affiliate applications will now also be subject to a £15 application fee.

Please note: The annual payment of £360 offers the best value for Full Members, representing a saving over the monthly payments. Please contact us to discuss your options.

For a Full Member, the annual increase represents less than 10p per day. If you have an active subscription, this adjustment will be applied automatically to your first Direct Debit collection after 1 April. No action is required on your part.

Three Decades of Dedication

We are incredibly proud of the community we have built together since 1994. By making this adjustment now, we are ensuring the Society has the team, the support, and the technology in place to remain your strongest advocate for the next thirty years and beyond.

Thank you for your continued support and for your dedication to the highest standards of our profession.

Best regards,

Anthony Belcher
