The Society of Will Writers was set up in April of 1994 as a trade association for Will Writers, more commonly known as a membership body providing a voluntary framework of regulation.
When the Society of Will Writers opened its doors in April of 1994 it had a relatively simple objective – ‘To be a representative body whilst providing protection to the consumer’.
In 2013 the then Lord Chancellor, Chris Grayling, called for stronger self-regulation as opposed to statutory regulation.
The Society of Will Writers is a non-profit making self-regulatory organisation whose primary objectives are the advancement, education and ethical standards within the will writing profession.
