Welcome to latest edition of Skipton Insights for Introducers – here to help boost the conversations you’re having with your customers about getting financial advice from Skipton.
This week’s article is all about helping you to refer your customers with confidence, by letting you know the steps we take once you refer your customers to us. From the moment we receive your referral form, your customers will be in safe hands.
What happens once you’ve referred a customer?
- Free initial phone consultation
Typically lasts up to 30 minutes.
After receiving the referral form, our Review and Financial Advice Team will call your customer for a quick chat. This will involve discussions around their situation – to help your customers decide if speaking to one of our financial advisers could be an option.
If they’d like to have a review, we’ll arrange this at a time convenient to/with them. They can choose to speak to an adviser face-to-face – or online through a video appointment.
- Getting to know your customer
So we can provide advice that’s right for your customer, we’ll take the time to get to know them properly. It’s also a chance to listen carefully to their financial wants and needs, and review any savings, investments, and pensions they have.
After digging deeper into their situation, our adviser will go away and develop a personalised plan.
- Providing tailored, no obligation advice
Your customer will be presented with recommendations – that we feel are right for their unique situation and needs.
It’s also worth mentioning to your customers that it costs nothing to hear our advice. A fee will only apply if they decide to act on a recommendation. And through our no pressure promise, they can take their time to think about their next steps.
Don’t forget, if a customer you recommend decides to act on our advice, you’ll receive your fee from a percentage of the initial charge they pay.
If you spot a customer who you think might need financial advice, simply complete a referral form and email to our dedicated mailbox – [email protected]

We offer financial advice to anyone with £20,000 or more to invest, or at least £500 per month or £400 per month for pension related investments. Or have an existing pension (s) with a minimum value of £50,000. We ask that your customers have money they’re able to commit for at least five years.
