Lincolnshire Show 2010

As you may or may not be aware the Society spends a lot of time and effort throughout the year raising public awareness of the importance of having and maintaining a current valid will.

This year is no exception, although our funds are limited (as a non-profit making organisation) we were delighted to be able to have a solid presence at this year's Lincolnshire Show. The team at head office worked extremely hard to ensure that everything was ready in time. It was also a great opportunity for some of the team to get out of the office and speak with some of the vast number of visitors who came to our stand.

Our open technical advice clinic was very successful answering a multitude of questions on Wills, LPA's (Lasting Powers of Attorney), Advance Directives, Guardians, Witnesses, Tenancy Severance and more. It was fantastic to have some of our Professional Will Writers whom are members of the Society participating on the stand during the show this year.

We would like to thank all those whom visited our stand over the two days, we also offer our thanks to our members who participated this year as it is fabulous statement of dedication to our industry.

Feedback regarding the show from those who attended was all very positive and said how much they enjoyed it especially given the glorious sunshine, although some would have liked it slightly cooler at times.

We feel that our mission to raise public awareness was a great success and shall continue to inform members of the public of the choices and considerations

Stats: 127th Lincolnshire Show

• Attendees: 68,000. (Up from 65,000 in 2009)
• Of the people we spoke to only 45% had a will
• The most common reason given for not having a will was that they were too young or had just not got round to doing one.
• Nearly 15% of people who had a will had never reviewed it & another 5% haven’t reviewed it in over 10 years. The Society recommends that you review your will every 3 years.
